Beginners to advanced students are welcome to participate in a class that will help students focus on symmetry in the art of facial expression. They will learn to draw the reflection of a portrait image across the line of symmetry. This exercise will help define the physical characteristics in a portrait and understand the “mirroring” effect and symmetry used in the art to create realistic facial proportions.

- Students will demonstrate facial symmetry within an artwork.
- Observing the similarities and differences between facial comparison and composition.

Students will use one half of a magazine cutout with a face, in order to draw the other half. The activity uses artistic measurements to exercise the skill of portraiture. The workshop will explore visual landmarks within the face and how to measure them from the line of symmetry.
